Welcome to my abroad blog!
I can't believe that December 31st is already here. I fly out of LAX tonight at 11 and am scheduled to arrive in Bangkok the morning of Jan. 2nd. Once I arrive in Bangkok, I'll be wisked off to my home for the next three months in Muang Ake. Since classes start on Monday, orientation will be in Bangkok and at Rangsit U this weekend.
I am very excited for my trip to begin and am feeling uber prepared. I've crossed off everything on my to-do lists and have packed everything from extra tubes of toothpaste to my malaria medicine and 20+ pairs of socks and underwear. Though I tried (in earnest!) to pack light and, I'm positive that I've overpacked. Afterall, you never know when there might be a freak accident and your excessive supply of bandages, flashlights, bug repellent, and strappy sandals saves the day.
I also hope that you're looking forward to my blog. I'm new to the blogosphere so please be patient, but I'm aiming to post an entry each week. You can reply to my entries and even become a "follower" of my blog to subscribe (I think this means that you will automatically be emailed my latest entry).
A few quick housekeeping tidbits:
1. Please e-mail. It's elyse.berkowitz@gmail.com. I really want to hear what's going on in your life, I'll miss you.
2. IM & Skype. My screenname is justsmile2113, I'll figure out gchat soon (I promise!), and elyse.berkowitz is my Skype name. I've just set up my webcam and am super excited to use it, so get on Skype and give me a call!
3. Mail & Postcards. Please email me your addresses, I'd love to send you mail! Also, please email me if you'd like my mailing address.
I already miss you all and promise to do my best to call you at a reasonable hour to say good bye and happy new year. Have a wonderful New Year, love you.
